About Nebraska Criminal History

Nebraska criminal records are divided among statewide and local systems. Nebraska State Patrol maintains the central fingerprint-supported history repository, while the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, Judicial Branch, sheriffs, and county courts hold other records. Those systems answer different questions and may not show the same events. This privately operated reference site explains the differences and directs readers to the government source most likely to hold an official record. It does not replace that source.

Why We Built This Site

Public access in Nebraska depends on knowing which record is needed. A State Patrol limited criminal-history response is not the same as a JUSTICE court file, a local booking entry, an NDCS incarceration record, or a registry profile. This site was built to make those boundaries clear. It describes statewide sources, explains when the original file remains with a court or local agency, and identifies the official system that supplies certified or current information. The goal is practical routing, not replacing the government offices that create and maintain the records.
