Nebraska Terms of Use

These terms govern access to Nebraska Criminal History and its reference materials. Visiting a page, reading a guide, or submitting a query through an outside search tool indicates acceptance of the conditions below. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the website. Government portals and other sites reached through links maintain separate terms that also apply after a visitor leaves this site. Users remain responsible for following those terms and all applicable Nebraska laws.

NO FCRA USE. Nebraska Criminal History is privately owned, is not government affiliated, and is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm. Neither this website nor its advertising partners provide a service for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site exists only to help readers locate Nebraska criminal-record resources.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no relationship to a Nebraska government office. It neither stores official criminal records nor orders government checks, retrieves documents, or files forms for a visitor.

The guides point toward Nebraska State Patrol, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, the state courts, and local offices across 93 counties. Some pages also connect to third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on avoiding the following conduct:

  • Attempting unauthorized entry into the site's systems or restricted areas

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Nebraska Sex Offender Registry data is supplied for lawful public-safety awareness. Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-4009 controls public disclosure, and retaliatory or vigilante misuse may violate the law.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Nebraska Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer reports, credit files, or official background checks. Content from this site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A regulated background check must be obtained through an authorized official process or an FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency, as applicable.

5. No Legal Advice

The site provides general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Nebraska attorney can assess how a charge, warrant, conviction, set-aside, sealing rule, or narrow expungement provision applies to a particular situation.

6. No Warranties

All pages and services are provided "as is" without a guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is not liable for damages resulting from its use, including reliance on content obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, or legal actions arising from that user's conduct or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Nebraska law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Nebraska. The Nebraska Public Records Law, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, and the criminal-history dissemination rules in §§29-3520 and 29-3523 govern public agencies and official records. They do not make this private site a government custodian.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, with or without prior notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be adjusted only as far as needed for enforcement.
